  They (Canon) have their business analytics /statisticians who analyze there data. Based on that, they open these promotions when it is most beneficial for them.

    You would think that, and for the eCash expiring I’m sure it was no coincidence.
    
    But I have serious doubts about the quality of their business analytics when they make 20%-off sales (on lenses) that sell out within 5 minutes, instead of doing a smaller discount and actually selling their inventory slowly…
