    FINALLY snagged my
24-70 2.8 II !! Rented one for several weddings, super impressed with my 5D Mark III, HANDS DOWN superior to the Gen.1

What do you feel is better than the gen. 1? Thinking of upgrading.

      1. June 13, 2016 at 9:19 am EDT

Oh man, this is a well documented upgrade. Google is your friend. Myself it was center and corner sharpness, the lens is lighter, it has a lock on 24mm to avoid lens creep, color rendition is greater and once again, off center image sharpness!

      I own the Gen.1- 24-70 2.8 & the Gen 1- 70-200 2.8 IS….. I have rented the Gen 2 of both lenses for the last 3 weddings I have shot….
HUGE difference with every shot. I have also purchased the 16-35mm 2.8 Gen. II Another STELLAR LENS!

    3. June 12, 2016 at 2:08 pm EDT

Been wanting to pick up a 24-70 II solely based off positive feedback but would you feel the 16-35 is a better walk around lens? Picking up a 6d soon and I need something to replace a ef-s lens.

      Thanks.

It depends…. if your shooting expansive subjects …. Landscapes, large buildings and such I would say yes. If individual people are your subjects I wouldn’t go below 50mm with 85mm being ideal for portrait shooting.
A good walk around lens I like with a little more reach is the 24-105mm 4.0 IS.

    5. June 12, 2016 at 11:49 pm EDT

I have to agree with Steve, the 24-70 f/2.8 ii is a stunning lens, but for a general walk around lens the 24-105 f/4 is better.
It is lighter has extra range, has IS and is a fraction of the cost. I still prefer the primes but the 24-70 ii is nearly perfect.

Gah ! It looks like 100-400 II was sold out even before it was published! Beats the street price even with the tax in California !

Our times are ET, when we posted this at midnight there were 12 copies of the 100-400 II in-stock. They sold out in about 35 minutes.

Is it just me, or is this :

        1. The lowest 85mm 1.2l has ever been ?
        2. The longest this lens has remained in stock in a sale ?

wow finally got one for 1440 after waiting 4 years and it is still available 14 hours later !
Thanks CPW !! You helped me get the 24-105IS and the 24-70L too!

Now to continue my similar long wait for the 70-200 to fall below my 1450 price after tax…I will be CanonPriceWatching 😉

yes discover will reject as it thinks the large amount is a security flag. Just immediately login to your account and it will ask you uo verify a one cent charge. Then go back to your cart and press submit again and it will work. Just takes 2 min.

This is the second order for the 16-35 I ordered. Last time was Apr 21, and that order never shipped, it sat in limbo until I finally canceled it.

      Hoping this one actually ships!
