The right price for this (Canon EF 24-105mm f/4 L IS USM) mediocre L series kit lense would be $500 ($499 – marketing gimmick). Especially, given the release of Canon EF 24-105mm f/4 L IS II USM (second version of this lens), its current street price of $599 is unreasonably high.
The review for the new 24-105mm f/4 L IS II is out…the new one is only a tit bit better than the old one at wide end only… Thus, both of them are overpriced. If you have the budget for the new one, for a few hundred dollars more, get the 24-70mm f/2.8 II, it’s still the best in terms of image quality.
