I own an 80D and love it but to see them offering a refurbished one already is scary

      Why is this scary?

I own a couple 70D’s also, they both had issues with one failing at the track where I shoot video. Had to send them in for repairs so this is why I’m worried.

They’ve been out for over a year, that is plenty of time for there to be refurbs. I assume it worries you becasue you are assuming these refurbs were defective cameras? I would guess in some cases this is true. But it can also be that the camera was an open box sent back from the seller for replacement, or a camera that had a scratch on the casing, or had any number of minor issues that do not change the function of the camera.

I wouldn’t worry about it too much, especially if your warranty is still active.

Got mine today, so far as I can tell the only thing “wrong” is the shutter button has some discoloration in the plastic. What a great deal!
