I think I’ll stick with my canon 135l

Canon is so good it just needs IS

    2. March 17, 2017 at 12:51 am EDT

Yeah but I usually shoot at 200 shutter speed so I’m ok.

If this new Sigma had OS and for the same price, THEN people would be wanting to switch. As it happens I still want it because I am switching to Nikon, but I need other lenses more than I need this one. I will be keeping my 135L forever I hope, it’s been 8 years still works great.

WOW !!!! I am sure it’s a spectacular lens. If I bought a 135,I would go with the Canon. Risky move by Sigma..IMO..

Agreed. The canon is superb and IS is not needed. Also, the price difference is huge.

The canon 135 is one of the finest lenses made. If you need IS for that lens, you’re using it wrong.

I wonder if it’s priced like this to push ppl to buy their 85 instead. This price is kind of crazy.

I just sold my Canon 135L due to not much usage at this FL. If I do need this FL again, I’d rather go with the Zeiss 135 APO Sonnar.

    Lol

The size/weight, not to mention the price is ridiculous!

Bought a refurbished 135L about a month ago for $719. Hard to justify at twice the price. Seen them as inexpensive as $679. Good luck Sigma, The Canon continues to be legendary despite a 20 year old design.

I’ve never once in 10+ years thought my 135L needed IS. Maybe a 400 but 135? Come one, there is too much craziness about stabilization in the pst few years. Technique wins everyday over hardware.

Sigma lenses are very sharp indeed, but to get a good copy that can focus consistently is pure luck. No thanks!
