I know that Canon has honored unauthorized dealer warranties in the past, do you know if they still do? I just tried to contact Canon tech support to ask them that question but they are closed and this sale will be over with before I can get hold of them again.
Canon has honored the warranty in the past. However, that was at their discretion and is subject to change — I don’t know what their currently policy is. They are unlikely to acknowledge that they do honor the warranty.
What’s the catch?
It’s grey market; returns likely require a restock fee; don’t expect the best customer service from the store. If you’re willing to live with that, there’s no catch.
