Black Friday Refurb Sale: R6 Mark II $1699, R8 $1099 — Hot or Not?

The Canon Store dropped the refurbished EOS R6 Mark II to $1699.00 and the EOS R8 to $1099.00. But are these good prices? The data shows that these are strong post-tariff floor prices, and you shouldn’t wait.

Yes, the R6 Mark II briefly hit $1499 last Black Friday, but that deal lasted only about two minutes. Since the 15% tariff took effect, sub-$1699 opportunities have been extremely rare. Post-tariff, the R6 Mark II has only dropped below $1699 a handful of times, and most of those windows lasted less than a couple of hours. Canon also has a clear incentive to keep the R6 Mark II from falling too far — it helps “anchor” the price of the newly released R6 Mark III.

The EOS R8 follows the same story. While it has historically been cheaper, post-tariff, sub-$1099 pricing has been fleeting, also only lasting a few hours most of the times it dipped below this price.

If you’ve been waiting on either camera, now is the time. These prices are historically strong, post-tariff, and usually sell out quickly. If the refurbished price does drop within the 14 day return period, Canon has been historically good at honoring price adjustments. Don’t wait for a lower price to appear — it might not, and even if it does, it will be gone in minutes.

Just an observation, prices seem to be approximately 20% higher than last year at this time for Black Friday.

That lines up perfectly with the 15-25% tariffs that Canon USA had to pay to import this camera during 2025.

Or not spend the money on them if you absolutely don’t need them — sending a message that they’re still too high. Vote with your wallet.

For $2000 Adorama has a new R6 II bundle (extra battery, SD card & Capture Subscription).

Something to think about as an option too
