15%-Off SmallRig LP-E6P 2520mAh USB-C Batteries, Only $33.99

SmallRig is yet again discounting their newly released LP-E6P USB-C batteries. According to SmallRig, these batteries are fully decoded and 100% compatible with the Canon LP-E6P, working with the R6 Mark II, R5 Mark II, and other recent Canon cameras. These batteries are now available with a 15% discount, only $33.99 in either the original blue or the new bright orange color.

I own several of these, including the version with the USB-C port and power indicator. It’s important to note that they all share the same hard-coded serial number. While they are compatible with the R5 II, attempting to register multiple batteries in-camera will cause conflicts due to these identical IDs.

Additionally, while a single battery charges perfectly within the R5 II body, they struggle when used in the BG-R20 grip. In a dual-battery setup, the right-side battery often fails to signal completion – remaining stuck at 100% and continuing to draw 0.4W indefinitely. In my testing, it stayed in this state for over 8 hours without ever switching over to charge the left-side battery.

Thanks for this info, I have one in my camera grip as we speak.

Thanks for the reply, Kevin! Since you have one in your grip right now, could you check something for me? Try charging the SmallRig LP-E6P via the camera’s USB-C port while it’s in the battery grip. For me, it never seems to signal a ‘complete’ charge in that configuration even with only 1 battery on the grip, though it works fine in the body alone. I’d be curious to see if yours behaves the same way.

As a point of comparison: an OEM Canon LP-E6P charges perfectly and correctly signals completion when used in the same grip. This seems to confirm the issue is specific to how the grip communicates with these third-party batteries.
